Wish I could write something positive. I called several companies and looked at reviews before talking to John the owner. I asked John to come out and service several mortise locks in our vintage house. I restored the house in 2010 and in the process I repaired all of the locks in the house. Didn't want to do it myself this time so I called John. A week after John did his work one of our tenants complained about one of the locks John worked on. He said he need to rotate the knob almost 300 degrees to get the door to open. I stopped by yesterday to look at the lock and found that the set screws on both the inside and outside knobs were not tightened. Not just loose, not tightened at all. Also noticed that the latch would not return position on it's own. I wrote an email and asked John for a partial refund of the over $300.00 he charged.

Here's John's reply:
"Yes, we lubed and checked all springs for the locks we took apart. I'm sorry you aren't happy with our work. I understand if you would like to start calling someone else for your lockwork in the future."

I'll be taking Johns advice, will definitely not call in the future. I suggest readers of this post do the same.

First time I used Pops Locksmith on 7/14/2010. I saw one happy customer rating on another website so I thought I would try him. Pops (his nickname) was on time and professional. I will use him again! I had 3 doors to be re-keyed but one of them was badly damaged and the hole in the door was made bigger and off center now due to previous owner's work. Pops did some handy work and made it work and it looked clean. I was happy. Pops does garage door repair as well and does some handyman stuff too and he is licensed and bonded per his business card
