Every child is a life, not a number.

General Info
While supporting DIPG research is at the core of our mission, Jack's Angels Foundation serves both the local and greater national community in raising awareness for the neglect of pediatric research and the urgent need for more funding. Only 4% of our National Cancer Institute budget for research benefits pediatric cancer as a whole. For the deadliest pediatric cancer, DIPG, there has been no progress in the terminal prognosis in over 50 years. Since brain tumors are now the leading cause of death in children with cancer, and also the most prevalent pediatric cancer, DIPG research represents a significant opportunity to advance finding cures and solutions for this diseases and other areas of cancer research. // Our influence can be recognized as the initiation of the DIPG Research Fund at Children's Hospital Los Angeles in 2013, the 2014 California State Proclamation by Assemblyman Scott Wilk naming the 4th Week in May as DIPG Awareness Week. Jack's Angels advocacy work in 2015 and partnership with Congressman Steve Knight led to the Jan. 13 2016 introduction of House Resolution 586, "DIPG Awareness Resolution", calling for the 4th week of May to be National DIPG Awareness Week, and most importantly calling for elevated consideration of low-survival rate cancers and years of life lost in the NCI research grant process. No other surviving legislation for childhood cancer being considered right now does this, hence the significance of HRes586 for pediatric cancer research. Beginning in 2013 with music and art festivals for children locally in Santa Clarita, Jack's Angels has begun it's "Relay for Jack" series of races and virtual runs for pediatric cancer research, currently benefiting research projects which address crucial challenges in treating the disease which is chemotherapy resistant, and impossible to remove surgically. DIPG has less than 1% survival rate, and it there are no survivors to be found to the general public. // Jack's Angels founder and President Janet Demeter states with conviction that she works for the day that no parent ever hears that there are no solutions for their child because "the numbers aren't great enough for investors."
