Transmission City is awesome, and the employees are so kind and helpful. Especially in these uncertain times with the Covid-19 virus pandemic. They took the time to gently wipe down the steering wheel, shifter, window controls, door controls, and interior and exterior handles with a sanitizing wipe. They did this both before and after performing work on my car.

I really appreciate the professionalism and great service that I receive from this locally owned and operated auto shop.

I brought these guys a junk yard trannny off the car to inspect and change parts if needed before I did the swap myself into my car. Knowing it had 166,000 miles they took it apart/inspected it and reinstalled the old used bearings. They only put in 1 new synchro and tried charging me $800 bucks! After a heated debate with the manager about reinstalling super high mileage old bearings they said they would put in new ones if I supplied my own parts adding $231 more to the project. I did so and when I picked it up they put in writing, "Transmission City has no liability nor warrants this transmission in any way." This whole ordeal took 48 days and I now have zero confidence to install this on my car. Will never go back!!

NEVER NEVER take your vehicle to Transmission City in Sandy, Utah. They have cheated us out of over $2000 and after keeping the vehicle for a ridiculously extended period of time, sent it home with the same problem it came in for.

So, save yourself a bundle of money and heartache.

My husband and I went on a trip out of town. While we were gone my son was driving my Acadia. Reverse stopped working and it would not go over 20 mph. When I called the dealership they said that even though this was a "known problem" with these cars they would not cover it as we were 30 days past the date of the warranty. They also told me that If the dealership did the work they would be replacing the failed part with the same part, knowing it would fail again in 3-5 years. They quoted me an astronomical price for the transmission and other items and said I would have to wait 2 weeks for an appointment.

I took it to Nate at Transmission City and they said they had seen this before with this model. The price quote was $1500.00 lower and they had an appointment available the following week.

At the same time, Nate looked at my sons truck for free. He could have told me that it needed a new transmission as well. Nate was honest and said that with a transmission service the car would be fine. My son's 2003 Dodge Durango has been running like a dream for the last 2.5 years.

The service is fantastic. They not only explain everything in detail, but are quicker and better priced than the dealership.

I had taken my car to another car repair shop and they told me that I needed motor mounts and transmission mounts replaced. They gave me a price quote. I decided to take it to Transmission City for another quote and inspection. My car had recently been in a hit and run and I wanted to check and see if the bad mounts were related to the accident. It turned out not to be related, but they saved me quite a bit of money. The first quote I received was $250 higher. The other guys were charging over the max amount of time that they could...even when it wouldn't take that long to repair. Transmission city had done a transmission replacement for me before. I am glad I went back.

All I can say is wow. I took my 2002 Toyota RAV4 to two other shops before calling Transmission City. When I called them they wanted to see my car before giving me a quote. Just like the rest, or so I thought.....



It turns out my car was at a shop near them and they offered to go get it to save me the trouble. That's not the best part either.



After picking it up and looking at it, they suggested that my car had a computer problem and that I didn't need a transmission. Their quote was $$THOUSANDS$$ less than the other shops were asking. I said OK.



They called the dealership and confirmed the computer for my car. Two days after they replaced it I received a letter from Toyota explaining the problem and offering me a replacement computer OR reimbursement if I had already had it replaced.



Not only did Transmission City diagnose my problem correctly the first time, they opened the door to have it fixed for FREE!!!!



I have to give these guys 5 stars and won't ever go anywhere else again.

I am writing a letter of thanks to Transmission City for their very honest analysis of what I thought was a transmission problem. This was not only from my own unprofessional judgment, but also from Tanner Transmission of Taylorsville, who told me that I need a complete transmission rebuild to the tune of about $2200.00. However after they took my car on a road test and performed their analysis, they told me that the transmission was in very good working condition. They said that all I needed to do was change the fluid and filter in the transmission, and that the vibration I was feeling at idle was bad motor mounts. Transmission City also does some other repair work. I will unquestionably be going to them for all of my future car repair needs that they are willing to do. Thanks again, Kevin Robinson

I would just like to say a few words about the treatment that I received from you guys at Transmission City. Nate, I appreciate the help and understanding that you afforded me and my son in the repair of his 01' Honda. You were very professional in your communication to me even though I am living in Indiana and my son and his car are in Salt Lake City. I appreciate the way you guided me through the repair process, with a thorough explanation of the repairs and even taking the time to take pictures of the whole process from start to finish and sending them to me. Not many shops will do that nowadays. You made me feel very comfortable in knowing that you back up your work and my son can go back to see you if there is any problem with his car. I would greatly recommend your shop to anyone who lives in the Salt Lake area, as well as, anyone who might be passing through and are in need of a transmission shop. You have been courteous and patient and as a parent who needs a little peace of mind because their kid is so far away from home, reassuring.
