Founded in 1990, Star Academy provides individualized education programs for students with learning differences in grades 1 to12. Located in San Rafael, Calif., it is a state certified non-public school (NPS). As a Bay Area special education provider, the school's classroom curriculum is based on California Department of Education frameworks. Its enrichment programs are available in the categories of music, art, drama, physical education and extracurricular activities. The school's amenities include gymnasium, occupational therapy room, reading area with books and art/science/music room, among others.
