      General Info
      Welcome to After Hour Pediatrics, we are a family-friendly children's urgent care and minor emergency center in downtown San Mateo, 15 minutes south of San Francisco Airport. For over 20 years, we have provided urgent medical care to babies, children and young adults from San Mateo, Burlingame, Millbrae, San Bruno, San Carlos, Belmont, Redwood City, and Foster City. The clinic is easy to find and has parking right outside the door. COVID Testing clinic for asymptomatic patients (children & adults) is now available Mon - Wed from 11am- 3pm. These tests are by appointment only. Appointments are usually available within 1-2 days. AHP now offers RAPID COVID-19 testing with results available in 20-30 minutes for an out of pocket fee of $75. We also offer PCR testing. All COVID testing is billed through your insurance as an office visit. Before visiting for COVID tests, please email us a copy of the front & back of your insurance card to ahpsanmateo@gmail.com and then fill out the Patient Forms on our website (Click here). Sick children do not need an appointment during urgent care hours: Mon-Fri 5-10pm; Sat, Sun & Holidays 10am-10pm. AHP tests are for active infection, not antibodies, and are available to anyone who is asymptomatic OR has mild symptoms of COVID-19 and has an insurance we take (Check here). If you have severe symptoms (bluish or cold/clammy skin, shortness of breath, chest pain, new confusion/disorientation, seizures, or difficulty speaking/breathing/moving/staying awake) seek emergency treatment immediately. While we cannot guarantee a turnaround time, our lab generally has results in 2-4 days after your visit, plus 1 extra day for tests on Saturday or Sunday. During weeks where there is a surge in cases, results can take up to 6 days. We apologize if there is a delay. COVID-19 tests are billed through your insurance provider. We bill for an office visit and an independent lab bills for the test. Your insurance provider may require a deductible or co-pay. Many patients are able to submit a receipt for reimbursement, so please contact your insurance provider with any questions regarding the price of testing.
