Hesperian Elementary School, located in San Lorenzo, Calif., offers educational and extracurricular programs to students in grades kindergarten through five. The school has an enrollment of more than 700 students and offers subjects, such as writing, math, reading, science and social studies. The school also provides instructional music that is provided by a music specialist to fifth grade students for those who are interested in band and orchestra. Additionally, it offers choir to students in grade four and five on a voluntary basis. The classroom music program for grades one through five includes a variety of activities that incorporate singing, note reading, composing, performance, movement, music listening and appreciation. The instruction for identified gifted and talented students is integrated into the regular classroom instructional program.
