- Glaucoma
- Macular Degeneration
- CataractsAs you age, you will likely encounter decreased visual acuity and focusing ability. One of the most common disorder of the eye is the cataract, which occurs when the eye's natural lens undergoes chemical changes causing it to become cloudy. A cloudy lens cannot effectively focus light on the retina resulting in blurred or obscured vision.
- Cataract SurgeryThe only way to treat a cataract is through surgery. Dr. Sastry uses a cataract surgery technique requiring only a tiny incision. Through this incision, he removes the faulty lens and replaces it with a synthetic lens. Once the new lens is successfully implanted, sutures are not required because the small incision heals itself quickly.
- Diabetic Retinopathy
- Eyelid SurgeryDr. Sastry has performed hundreds of cosmetic and functional eyelid surgeries. Cosmetic eyelid surgery is performed mostly in the office under local anesthesia. After the patient arrives, he/she is medically evaluated by checking vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, etc.). Then the eyelids are precisely marked by Dr. Sastry, and the patient is given some preoperative medications. The patient is then taken to the operative suite and the surgery is performed by Dr. Sastry with proper sterile operative setup. Surgery is typically very comfortable with only Tylenol used for pain. Duration of the surgery is one hour for two eyelids and an hour and a half to two for all four eyelids. Ice packs are placed on the eyelids and the patient is discharged 20-30 minutes after the surgery with post operative instructions.
- BlepharoplastyBlepharoplasty (aka "eyelid surgery") alters the appearance of eyes by removing excess upper lid skin and/or reducing or eliminating bags under the eyes. Some patients have hollowness under their eye and need fat repositioning or tiny fat injections to give more fullness to the eyelids.
