The Public Works Department Bureau of Engineering provides planning, project development, design and consulting services for streets and infrastructure of San Francisco. The bureau, located in San Francisco, is also responsible for assuring that projects are consistent with applicable codes, standards and principles; are completed on schedule and within budget; and are environment friendly. Apart from providing engineering services, the department of public works provides architectural, civil and structural services. The department is responsible for the cleaning, repair and maintenance of streets, sewers and parks; construction of plazas, stairways and other public areas; and restoration of historic places of the city of San Francisco.
