I brought a party of eight, half out of towners, to the Market bar to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful SF day with great SF food. The maitre de was extremely rude right from he get-go. After waiting close to ten minutes to put our name in, without even being acknowledged, he looked at me and said blankly, "no, i cannot do that." Granted I knew it was busy but we had the whole ferry building to peruse, should it be a long wait. I told him this and questioned how the group in front of us was told 20 minutes. He said okay fine it would be an hour and a half. I thanked him and he took our name. He then walked away without saying another word. We walked outside to four-five empty tables and decided to walk toward the bridge. We meander to the Americana where we were promptly seated. That was when my phone rang and a nice women let me know that (ahem 15 minutes later) our table was ready!

While up in San Francisco on a business trip, I went to the Market Bar. We sat out on the patio and enjoyed a nice dinner.
