Reid Abrams, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and hand surgeon who provides care to diminish pain and restore function in the hand, wrist, forearm and elbow. He also serves as chief of Hand and Microvascular Surgery and vice chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He has expertise in treating bone and soft-tissue conditions including carpal tunnel syndrome, Dupuytrens contracture, injuries to tendons, nerves, ligaments and bones, sports injuries, benign and malignant tumors, and arthritis. Dr. Abrams research interests include upper extremity anatomy, peripheral nerve and tendon repair, and elbow biomechanics. Dr. Abrams has received numerous accolades: he has been listed in The Best Doctors in America, Pacific Region, selected as a Best Doctor in America" by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd, recognized as one of San Diegos Top Doctors" by San Diego Magazine, and ranked by U.S. News & World Report in the top 1 percent of hand surgeons. Dr. Abrams is frequently invited to speak regionally, nationally and internationally. Recognized as an outstanding educator, he received the UC San Diego Orthopedic Surgery Resident Teaching Award four times. He instructs post-residency graduates in hand and microvascular surgery through a highly sought-after, fellowship training program. He is board-certified in orthopedic surgery and hand surgery. Dr. Abrams completed fellowships at Rady Childrens Hospital-San Diego and at Brigham and Womens Hospital at Harvard University.
