West Coast Security, Inc was founded in 2001 by James and Carolina Brown, veterans and recognized experts in the Security and Networking Industries. James Began his career in security in 1983 in the United States Marine Corps. Upon receiving his security clearance in Feb of 1984 James was assigned to a unit responsible for the safeguarding of our nations nuclear arsenal while stationary and during transport. James served in the United States Marine Corps until April of 1991 when he joined the ranks of Wells Fargo Alarm Services, a division of Borg Warner. James server as Installation Manager and later as a Regional Training Manager, where he was responsible for roughly 50% of the United States as his territory and managed the training dept primarily focusing on technical training of field employees. James left Wells Fargo in 1994 and spent 2 years with ADT as Commercial Installation Manager. Wells Fargo Alarm and ADT being the two oldest and largest security companies in the world drew James to wanting to gain experience from both. After spending 2 years at ADT, James wanted to expand his skill sets and try his hand at Sales and Business Development. He joined Best Lock Corporation who was undergoing a corporate identity change, and a name change to Best Access Systems. Founded in 1921 and the inventors of the interchangeable core system for mechanical locks, Best Access Systems desired greatly to expand into the electronic security industry. This was James' first experience in sales and it was a rewarding one. In 2 short years James was awarded the Top Gun Award by Best Access for achieving the highest sales nationally. James received this award the following year as well. This is when he realized that it was time to move on. Even though he was making a good living at Best Access, he felt the drive and desire for more. Being the only source of income for his family, this was big decision and not one he made lightly. However, he found the ability to deal directly with customers and to serve as a decision maker being able to decide on the spot, what was best for the customer and to take action without the red tape and delays caused by large corporations too appealing to pass on, and West Coast Security, Inc was founded. Carolina began her career in the Marketing/International Sales and eventually Operations Management roles for several of the pioneers that brought us the internet as we know it today. In 1990 working for Bay Networks in a support role specializing in International Sales and Marketing Carolina was introduced to people and technology that would change her life. Some of the folks that she was working with went on to start a new company, Netscape Communications. Due to the outstanding relationships and performance Carolina had exhibited, these same folks recruited Carolina into Netscape. She worked her way up to an Operations Manager position based at the Corporate Campus in Mountain View, Ca. Carolina was part of the Netscape/IPlanet Team and was in this role during the Netscape/AOL merger. Shortly after the AOL merger, Carolina took a 6 month sabbatical and during sabbatical, decided to retire and spend time with her daughter, who was in pre-school at the time. When James decided to found West Coast Security, Carolina was at his side bringing valuable experiences and talents to create a well balanced team with a combination of skill sets not typically found in the security industry.
