I have taken my 1981 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser to Barrett's Automotive since I bought it in 2007. Barrett's came recommended highly by another FJ40 owner. I have been completely satisfied with the service and quality of work performed there. Mike Barrett typically gives me a description and estimation of the cost of the service and parts each time. He also informs me of potential issues that he may discover after he is able to get into the vehicle and assess in detail. If those potential issues are not found, he very happily lets me know and the concern is alleviated. He won't proceed with anything that is not necessary. I feel that I can make informed decisions from our discussions and I have built a lot of trust in his care. I appreciate the notes at the bottom of each invoice regarding on-going and future maintenance of my vehicle and things for me keep a watch on. Terrible. Called for a quote on a clutch and he gave me the lowest quote of anywhere so I took it in to him. He then told me he would take a look and give me an "exact" quote. Called me back with a higher offer than anywhere else. I said I would come get it, but it was already up and taken apart according to him so he said he would do it for the original quote. The work was finished and he called me back with a different price. I only had enough for the original quote and he accepted it, but was upset about it. Right after had problems with the brake sticking. Took it somewhere else and was told the clutch had a hill lock on the brakes that wasn't adjusted correctly and that the clutch work was done poorly. I will not take my car back ever!
