I was so pleasantly surprised by the welcome we received when I brought my father to Wicomico Nursing Home. I felt so comfortable and happy seeing the care my father was receiving. The entire staff is exceptional. The physical therapy staff are so accommodating. I wish you could clone every staff member there!
My father was there only a few days before he passed away --- every day I went in to see him and he would say, "This is a terrible place. I would never leave you in a place like this". It haunts me to this day!! Theywould not respond to his light, he would try to get up to go to the bathroom by himself and fell one time and I caught him one time. Another time, the Director of Social Services was in his room with me and after about 40 mins. she went to get someone as they never had answered his light and he needed to go to the bathroom. If they turned him at night, they were rough with him; one nurse made him sit in the hall and told him "he deserved to sit there" when he said he was uncomfortable and cold. I made a formal report on this and have never received a followup and asked for one. It was a nightmare for him as well as for me; I had just hired a CNA from Angels Network to come sit with him, but he died before that happened. I still have nightmares over this.
