VA Medical Center is a health care organization that serves veterans throughout southwestern Virginia and maintains several community-based outpatient clinics. The organization also provides pharmacy, social work, women s health status monitoring, long-term health care and rehabilitative services. It conducts research and development studies, as well as offers treatment for spinal cord injuries. VA Medical Center specializes in the areas of cardiology, pulmonary, oncology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, neurology, rheumatology, nephrology, urology and otolaryngology. It performs general and orthopedic surgeries, as well as treats conditions related to stroke, amputations, injuries, surgeries and medical illnesses. The organization is a part of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
