General Info
When Stan's Drive-In first Opened in the early 1950's in Provo, it was operated as a franchise of Arctic Circle and was owned and operated by Bob Peay. During one winter evening of 1955-56, two high school student, Ron Taylor and Max Peay, developed the original fry sauce recipe while working the night shift together. They liked what they "Mixed" together for themselves and began sharing it with their friends as an alternative to ketchup.Soon their friends and others were asking for that "good fry sauce stuff". It wasn't long before fry sauce was the standard sauce being served with all french fries. Later in 1957, Stan and Sarah Taylor purchased the drive-in, a sales representative from Arctic Circle asked Stan and Ron if he could take the fry sauce recipe to the Arctic Circle headquarters in Salt Lake City to see if they would be interested in using it in all their franchise outlets, since it was such a big hit at Stan's.
