We have used the St Peters location for years to board our dogs but we have seen a slow decline in service & grooming in the past few years with this last visit being tragic. Grooming has always been a problem!

We left our 2 dogs (Australian Sheperd & Border Collie) for a 2 week stay. We pay extra to have them in a Cabana so they have room to move about because they are large dogs & always take tennis balls because we consider that good exercise when the staff plays with them. When we left them on 2/24 they both walked in eagerly, the border collie a little slower because of her age but none the less, walked well under her own power. We pay extra for Personal Playtimes & Yappy Hour thinking this is good interaction with the staff.

When I called to check on the several days later I'm told they are fine & out side playing ball. To make a long story short, we did not get what we paid for. We got much less with horrific results. When we picked them up on 3/11/15 the Border Collie practically crawled to the car & had to be lifted into it. She was 13 years old & did have arthritis but the staff knew that as they gave her a pill every day for it. When I called the kennel later in the day the boarding records were checked & I was told there was no mention of her having extra trouble walking. Could that be because they didn't walk her ? Could that be because the manager never observed her out of her room? Were they just put in their room & ignored? After talking to Lindsey today I find out what I understood to be extra exercise (Personal Playtime) was time spent in the room sitting with Millie, petting her, while her joints got stiffer & stiffer. Millie never recovered & had to be put down yesterday. Be careful what you pay for. We may try a different Kennelwood location but will NEVER go back to St Peters !

Wouldn't Trust Anyone Else

I take my dog to Kennelwood in St. Peters all of the time and have never had one bad experiance.

The staff is always so friendly and they seem to really love my dog. They are always very accomodating as far as when I pick him up and drop him off. My dog never seems to be upset going there, in fact he usally seems very happy and always greets them with a lick.

I have used them for boarding, grooming and doggie day care. I have always been very happy with how he was treated. I have also rec. them to several friends and they seem to have the same experiance I have had. I wouldn't trust anyone else to care for my dog.

Disapointment Again

One definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over again expecting different results. Our mistake was to think that Kennelwood Pet Resorts would improve. Unfortunately, we have boarded our cats a half a dozen times at Kennelwood in St. Peters at 418 Church Street only to be disappointed time and time again.

The staff advises us to bring along a familar item(s) from home (ie. blanket, toy) and label all items for our cats with their names. While we routinely do this and place the items in a bag also with our name, the staff consistantly fails to return all of the items. We have lost blankets, toys, brushes, etc. In one instance, there were left over syringes from our diabetic cat, giving me doubt that our pet received the prescribed insulin twice each day. In another instance, they dropped the insulin bottle and our pet was without medication for a short period of time. Today I was told it can take one week to wash and replace a pet's blanket!!! Honestly, folks, what kind of operation is this? Since our pets were only boarded for one week, it means they may have been without their familar item for their entire stay!!

To add fuel to the fire, one long-term staff member explained they might not have all of our items because they care for 65 animals. If they can not care for the animals under their supervision, then should they be in business in the first place? Recently we paid nearly $300 to board our two cats at Kennelwood for one week. Not only do we have doubt our pets received the proper care we paid for, but we have had to shell out money to replace the items they lost, too.

Kennelwood requires customers to schedule a pick-up time for their pets. Once again, we routinely do this, however Kennelwood Pet Resorts never has our items or pets ready for pick-up. This puts us in a difficult position, as we have been unable to keep our other appointments during our busy day. Today it was 45 minutes before I left the kennel without satisfaction.

Sadly, after comparing notes, we've found our neighbors have had similar experiences with Kennelwood Pet Resorts. Since our pets cannot talk back to us, we'll never truly know what happened.

This is one team that fails to hit a home run in its ballgame. Three plus strikes....Kennelwood Pet Resorts in St. Peters, MO is out of the picture in our book!
