General Info
Seeking out professional help for difficult circumstances takes courage. It is important not only to find a therapist who is competent, but also approachable and compassionate. I am committed to being a source of hope and guidance as we explore your current circumstances and goals in order to find solutions and relief. My approach to therapy involves exploring together what your current strengths and resources are to find solutions for your goals, and to examine to influence of your thoughts and behaviors in different situations. Furthermore, I will view you as a whole person. Not only will we explore the role of your thoughts and feelings in your overall well-being, but also your physical, spiritual, and social parts of yourself. My areas of clinical expertise include working with adults who are struggling with chronic medical conditions and those who have been through traumatic experiences such as car accidents, abusive relationships, and the death of loved ones. Additionally, I work with individuals who are facing issues related to pregnancy such as miscarriage and postpartum depression. By request, I am happy to integrate a Christian worldview into effective, research-based counseling techniques. Depending on your goals and current situation, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing or EMDR may be a beneficial therapeutic option. EMDR therapy helps individuals who have experienced traumatic or disturbing events and struggle with symptoms due to these events by stimulating the brain to reprocess the events. If you have any questions about EMDR or are interested in receiving EMDR therapy, please feel free to ask me. Currently I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy. I am working toward additional licensure with the Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy under the supervision of Amanda Cornelius, MA, LPCC, board-approved supervisor. I received my Master’s in clinical psychology from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois and my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Northwestern College (currently known as University of Northwestern St. Paul). In addition, I am a member of the American Counseling Association.
