DETAILS
General Info
I am a Board Certified Oncology Social Worker also specializing in Deployment Psychology and Veteran's issues. With over 16 years of combined experience in hospice and working with military families, I have enjoyed working from a holistic, wellness perspective. I also provide grief therapy services utilizing mindfulness based approaches combined with evidence based therapies. These techniques can be transformational for those experiences stress disorders, anxiety and patterns of problematic thinking in their relationships. For moderate to severe cases of PTSD, I utilize cognitive processing therapy, approved by the VA and the Department of Defense. I was trained through the Center for Deployment Psychology which is located in Bethesda Maryland. When appropriate, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy), short-term, evidence based treatments for assisting you in identifying "stuck points" in your life. Grief and loss can be a time for renewal and reflection and these approaches can assist you during those times. I offer first responder and medical personnel discounts to police officers, EMT's, dispatchers, firefighter, chaplains and social workers as well as nurses and physicians. You shouldn't have to "translate" medical or military language for your therapist. Secondary trauma and compassion fatigue are common among this population. I provide Critical Incident Debriefing services for the Missouri Dept. of Corrections and many other corporations. Illinois residents traveling to Missouri for services also receive a 10% discount.
