Most mediators empathize with the parties and facilitate communication among them. Many judges, on the other hand, use their prestige to push parties to resolution. My extensive training and experience in mediation convinces me that it is better to gently guide the parties to their own resolution. When necessary, however, I will speak with the stature and authority of a judge with over 20 years on the bench to motivate the most recalcitrant client. Most importantly, I know when to use which approach. Regardless of which of many approaches I take, you and your client will always be treated with the utmost respect and courtesy. Remember, anyone can “mediate” a case; I GET CASES SETTLED.
