  We recommend that our patients visit us every six months for a thorough exam and cleaning. During your appointment, our team will take a close look at your teeth and gums to evaluate their condition and determine if you need any treatments. We may also take x-rays to look at the bone structure of your teeth and jaw. Finally, we give your teeth a cleaning—removing plaque and tartar build-up, and leaving you with a smile that shines bright.

Endodontics

• Root Canal Treatment
  If your teeth are especially sensitive, consult with your dentist. This could be a sign of the need for root canal treatment, a gum tissue graft, a desensitizing toothpaste (with potassium nitrate), or a concentrated fluoride gel (0.4% stannous- or 1.1% sodium-fluoride) may do the trick.

  When gum disease is caught in its early stages, we may recommend a procedure known as scaling and root planing. This deep cleaning of your teeth both above and below the gum line ensures that all build-up is removed and bacteria are eliminated, leaving you with a clean slate.

  A partial denture is an appliance that fits the dental arch (upper or lower) and has false teeth where you have gaps in your smile. The appliance derives support from a metallic framework and clasps that attach to neighboring teeth.

  A periodontist is a dentist who specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease, and the placement of dental implants. Periodontists are also experts in the treatment of oral inflammation. Periodontists receive extensive training in these areas, including three additional years of education beyond dental school. They are familiar with the latest techniques for diagnosing and treating periodontal disease and are also trained in performing cosmetic periodontal procedures.   In the later stages of gum disease, known as periodontitis and advanced periodontitis, the ligaments and tissues around your teeth begin to break down, creating large periodontal pockets and causing your teeth to become loose. With gum flap surgery, we can carefully remove inflamed tissue, treat any infection that may be present, and then close up the enlarged pockets.
• Tooth Extractions
  Tooth extraction may also be necessary if you have any teeth that are severely decayed or damaged. These teeth will need to be removed before the implants can be placed.
• Bone Grafting
  Bone grafting is a surgical procedure in which synthetic bone material is added to the jawbone to provide support for the implants. This is often necessary when the jawbone has been weakened by periodontal disease or tooth loss.

  Dr. Dominessy is a proud veteran having served as a dentist in the Air Force for 8.5 years. While serving she completed 2 residencies: a 1-year AEGD (advanced education in general dentistry) and a 3-year prosthodontics residency which she completed in 2014. She was stationed at Keesler AFB, Incirlik AFB, and Lackland AFB, and finished her last assignment at Travis AFB.
