Founded in 1897, Southern California Edison is one of the largest electric utilities in the United States, serving a population of more than 13 million. It is a public regulated electric utility that supplies electric energy to more than 50,000-square-miles of central, coastal and Southern California. The company provides power to commercial, industrial and nonprofit customers that include more than 5,000 large businesses and over 280,000 small businesses. Southern California Edison is a subsidiary of Edison International, an electric power generator and distributor, and investor in infrastructure and renewable energy projects. Edison International operates in regulated and nonregulated markets with a power generation portfolio of more than 14,000 megawatts. Southern California Edison is headquartered in Rosemead, Calif.
