The Floyd County Government works to promote economic development, community consciousness, and a safe environment for citizens. It has a board of commissioners that is responsible for setting directions and approving policies and managing budget and authorizing expenditures. The government maintains an animal control division that works to support animal welfare through education and stressing owner responsibility. The Floyd County Government s communications center coordinates responses to various emergency and nonemergency calls for service. It additionally operates community and economic development, solid waste management, prison, purchasing, finance, police and human resources departments. The government has an office of tax commissioner that receives tax returns filed by taxpayers and designates the board of assessors to receive the returns. The Floyd County Government is located in Rome, Ga.
