Martha Weeks Daniel, founder of Daniel Design Associates, has been involved in the business of graphic design for more than 20 years. A native of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Daniel is a graduate of St. Mary's College in Raleigh, NC and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 2007, she received her Certificate in Documentary Filmmaking from Duke University. Daniel Design is considered one of the most creative design "shops" in the area. ("Area" is eastern North Carolina, more specifically Rocky Mount, NC! ) Specializing in web design, logos, brochures, newspaper, and print advertising.for years. Martha Daniel has been the recipient of many awards for creativity and design. It is a natural progression that moved with gusto into the realm of Web Site Design. As the emergence of the computer has revolutionized the design and printing industry, Martha Daniel has "grown up" with computers. Her husband, Curt, has been involved in the computer industry for 20 years and has a huge technical and applications knowledge that has been a tremendous asset to Daniel Design. The Daniels purchased their first computer, a TRS80, in the late 70's and have been "online" for more than20 years with the internet. Martha's strong background in design coupled with her knowledge of HTML language for the internet.....plus her husband's technical expertise is a combination of knowledge that very few other design firms could offer their clients interested in the internet. They have the latest computers, software and other hardware, to be able to provide state of the art expertise and equipment for their customers. The Daniels have two married daughters. A founding member of the Triangle East Advertising and Marketing Association (a chapter of the American Advertising Association ), she not only has been active active with area advertising professionals but also has been awarded nearly 20 Addy awards for her creative efforts. Martha Daniel is an advisory member and former instructor of the Rocky Mount Arts Center, a member of the Rocky Mount Area Chamber of Commerce, and actively serves on several civic and community boards. She was the recipient of the Outstanding Young Woman of Rocky Mount Award, given by the RMt. Jaycettes and also was selected by the NC Jaycettes as one of Five Outstanding Young Women of North Carolina. More recently, Martha Daniel served four years on the Board of Visitors at the University of North Carolina and was on the John Motley Morehead Foundation Regional Scholarship Selection Committee for many years. In 2004, Martha Daniel was selected as the Rocky Mount Chamber of Commerce Small Business Woman of the year. More recently, Daniel received her Certificate in Documentary Studies from Duke University after two years of filmmaking work, which is her passion. She is currently working on the documentary, Miss Nancy Minds Their Manners with co director Caroline Paxton. The graphic design and advertising shop now known as Daniel Design Associates, had its beginnings many years ago as a collaboration of creative efforts between two friends. Martha Daniel and Tommy Baysden, both grew up in Rocky Mount, NC and both attended college at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Martha was a student in the art and design department and Tommy was in the school of journalism. They had a knack of producing printed (and assigned ) material that captured the cleverness and creativity of both individuals, and they enjoyed working together. After college, they both went on their separate ways. Martha married Curt Daniel and accompanied him around the world as an Air Force wife during the Vietnam days, and Tommy married Cindy Bullard after his Navy days in the rivers of Vietnam. Both continued their creative endeavors.....Martha by teaching art...she was the first white ESEA Title I teacher in the still segregated Public schools in Selma, Alabama in 1968, and as a working artist in
