Located in Rockingham, N.C., the Richmond County Department of Social Services works to provide family-centered services to children and families to achieve well-being through ensuring self-sufficiency, support, safety and permanency. It promotes families to generate their own solutions and participate in planning and decision making, as well as engages and partners with community, local and informal supports. The department maintains a family support section that is comprised of staff development and licensing policy teams, as well as administers a variety of community-based programs. The Richmond County Department of Social Services also has an economic services section that provides guidance and supervision for various departments of social services in administering food and nutrition services and energy programs.
