Monroe County Water Authority, located in Rochester, N.Y., supplies water for household, commercial and industrial purposes. It supplies water to more than half a million customers in Monroe, Genesee, Ontario, Wayne and Orleans counties in New York. Founded in 1950, Monroe County Water Authority operates a storage facility that stores more than 130 million gallons of water. Its production and transmission department operates systems related to water treatment and quality, transmission, distribution and storage. Monroe County Water Authority operates an engineering department that provides planning, support and design engineering and construction services. Its buildings and grounds division oversees the maintenance, trucking and internal construction projects related to water mains, hydrants, valves, water services and leak detection.
