Leigh J. Johnson started Custom Alarm/Custom Communications from the basement of his home in 1968. What started as a one-person operation has grown into a company that provides employment for more than 60 people. The company is a full-service security and sound business that provides sales, installation, service and monitoring of security systems. Commercial security services include burglar alarm systems, fire alarm systems, closed circuit television, access control and added security. Residential security includes intrusion systems, fire alarms, residential camera systems, wireless options, and new construction and structure wiring. Sound systems include sound reinforcement systems, video protection systems, music and drive-thru systems, and nurse and patient call systems. The company also has an Underwriters Laboratories-listed monitoring station. Custom Alarm/Custom Communications is located in Rochester, Minn., with branch offices located in Winona and St. Paul, Minn.
