      General Info
      Dr. Xavier Preud'?homme went to medical school in Brussels, Belgium, where he grew up. He trained there in Psychiatry and subsequently worked as an attending on the Mood Disorders and Sleep Laboratory ward of Erasme Academic Hospital. In 2001, Dr. Preud'?homme moved to the United States where he re-trained, though this time in Internal Medicine and Psychiatry at Duke University. After graduating in 2006 from their combined program, he joined the Duke faculty, working primarily in the inpatient setting in internal medicine and in psychiatry until 2018. He joined Carilion Clinic in 2019, where he provides psychiatric consultation in the medical setting. Dr. Preud'?homme is board-certified in internal medicine, psychiatry, psychosomatic medicine, and sleep medicine. He has published on modeling of slow wave EEG activity, bladder function during sleep, insomnia, factitious disorder, bariatric medicine, addiction medicine, POTS, and delirium. He enjoys bedside teaching and partnering with learners in research.
