I strongly advise against hiring Affordable Service. Do not let them onto your property! We hired them to replace a hot water heater in our home in Rio Rancho. The technician had an accident that caused costly damage to our home. We expect any reputable company to resolve such a situation, so we remained calm when they accidentally started a house fire. Unfortunately, we chose the one company that will NOT clean up their accidents! They caused thousands of dollars of fire/smoke damage to our home, refused to fix it, AND expected us to pay full price for this service.

A wall of our house was set on fire during the installation. This was next to the air conditioner intake, so the house was quickly filled with smoke. The technician cut a hole in the drywall to extinguish the burning insulation. It would turn out that our home needed professional smoke treatment, for which Affordable Service refused to take proper responsibility. Keep reading for the details, or else just go choose a different company to hire.

Cost to us: The owner’s daughter, Leah, came to assess the damage. She acknowledged that the house smelled of smoke. She suggested patching up the damaged wall and cleaning the ash out of the air ducts. This did not remedy the smoke smell. We hired a smoke expert (consultation $200) who said that the burned material around the air intake needed to be replaced, THEN the ducts cleaned, and then we would need to vacate the home and have it filled with ozone and hydroxyl to get rid of the smoke smell. This fire damage treatment would cost $3,000+. We sent the estimate to Affordable, who refused to pay for experts to repair the damage they had caused and said they'd turn the case over to their insurance. Six months later we have yet to hear anything.

Do not hire Affordable Service. They will NOT take responsibility for any mistakes they may make. They will expect you to pay for it.

They stink. A guy came and installed a Navien tankless water heater for me and came back two days in a row to fix the same leak. He vented the exhaust not to code, too close to a door and a window according to the installation manual. He vented the intake air inside my garage, a space said by Navien tech support to be too small in cubic feet to vent the appliance. All venting requirements in the manual showed both vents outdoors. The heater kept firing every time I flushed the toilet or used cold water. Had to turn off the DIP switches that controlled the internal recirculation to stop the burner from going off. Fan still came on because the unit should have had a check valve installed on the cold water inlet. Until it's fixed by my knowledgeable plumber, I had to turn off the cold water isolation valve unless I'm using hot water to stop the fan running all the time. I'll never let anyone from this company near my house again.

My issues with Affordable Service has been resolved. Seems there was an honest mistake made.

Affordable Service fixed our Gas Furnace. The part is approx. $30-$50 and it took them 15 minutes to fix it. The price they charged is double what other companies would charge. A normal service call for an hour is approx. $100 and the part is $30-$50, which would equal approx $130-$150. Affordable service does not itemize parts and labor, they said they have a flat rate for repairs. I think this flat rate (bundled) system is unfair to the consumer since I am unable to see how much they charged for parts and labor.

I live in Rio Rancho, in a fairly old house. Over the past 10 years I have hired Affordable service for ALL KINDS of plumbing work. They have installed refrigerated air, a furnace,. a showerhead, and a new water main. I have always been impressed with their technical expertise, professionalism, punctuality, and courtesy. Their service is very fast, efficient, and reasonably priced, and I would recommend them to ANYONE. I hope that they remain in business for a long time!

Kevin came out to my house and fixed my furnace, when 3 other companies couldn't. He also made recommendations on ways I could save on my energy bill.

I highly recommend Affordable Pluming and Heating. They have installed air conditioning in two homes for me and have installed heating/furnace in one. They did an exellent job and guarantee their work. They also did some work on a furnance for me. They fixed it in a timely manner and I've had no problems with it since.
