I was referred to Sunset Pet hospital when I moved to the area from Seattle, by my dog's trainer. He felt that Dr. Shottman's demeanor and training methods would be a good match for a couple of rescued rotties with "issues", and boy was he right! Unbelievably, Tinkerbell actually liked the team there, and she was usually so afraid of vets that she'd wet herself trying to get away. For that matter, even my sketchy Starbreaker starts wagging his little nubbin when he sees where we're going. Sadly, the cats never seemed impressed, but, well, they're cats. They never seemed distressed, either.

Honestly, if you take the time to form a relationship with the staff, the way you would a medical doctor, you're going to reap the most benefits here. I've been with them for almost 7 years now, and I wouldn't want to go anywhere else. I've tried a lot of different vets over the years, as I've owned pets my whole life. There are some that are cheaper, it's true, but the quality of the vaccines they buy and other, similar issues, are reflected directly in those costs. This vet takes my pet's health very seriously, but they also take my sensibilities into account. I'm not a huge fan of unnecessary chemicals, for example, but totally willing to cook for a neurotic emo rottie. By listening to my concerns, Doctor was able to immediately flex and recommend alternate treatment that has really helped my aging boy.

When the unthinkable happens and it's time to say goodbye, this team is the absolute best. They've helped me through the loss of two of my furry companions, and have done so with compassion and understanding.

The facility is clean but not fancy, and the staff is kind, cheerful, and they have a sense of humor. They praise my pets and tell them how good they are, until they're wagging and wiggling. They recognize how my pets bond to me and work with that relationship, unlike all the previous vets who tried to intervene or work against it. Overall, this has been the best partnership I could have ever hoped for, and I would hope that anyone looking for a "family" vet for the life of companion animals who are family, and not just pets, would consider this vet.

After reading reviews, many of which date back a few years, I concur with the more recent. Through the years I've been having Sunset Pet Hospital care for our two elderly dogs, I have come to trust Dr. Schottman's care and would be hard pressed to go somewhere else. As with any business, there have been gliches, misunderstandings, and the like, but they have always been satisfactorily resolved. For those who are concerned about her holistic approach, I wouldn't be. If prescribed medicines are required she will gladly do so. I give this vet an excellent rating and my dogs needs are being met, and mine too.

They aim to provide conscientious vet services

I started taking my dogs to Dr. Schottman because my former Vet had retired. I searched for a vet who was more holistic in vet care, and found Sunset Pet. She is very caring, gentle and not big on surgery to solve every problem. I have referred other puppy owners to her since. If there is any issue, she will make an effort to accomodate and resolve any problem, including billing. She is out of the office sometimes, so when I make an appointment, I make sure my dogs see Dr. Schottman.

No thank you!

Terrible. I thought my 1st impression may have been hasty but after a 2nd recent visit...I will never again go back. The front desk staff was far more compassionate than the Dr who seems to be more obsessive about dental health than anything else. I was made to pay for an exam when all I'd asked for them to do was a test that day. I wasn't given any choice in the matter. Then the exam consisted solely of her looking at my pet's teeth and telling me they were in bad shape...which I knew...because she'd ranted about it during my 1st visit. $50 to be chastized for not having hundreds? Thanks.Trust me, if I had the hundreds it would cost I would've had the work done before....and far before I ever get the dental work I need for myself. By the time I'll be able to afford that I'll likely need an entirely new set of teeth. Then my pet was given a treatment (that I've since learned was terrible considering my pet's condition and for which I again wasn't given any choice) which the
