- Dr. Shane Abdunnur is a fellowship-trained neurosurgeon with specialty training in spine. He specializes in all aspects of spine surgery, including adult degenerative conditions, spinal cord injury, spine tumors and deformity correction. He also has training and experience in peripheral nerve disorders. He works with the non-surgical providers at SpineNevada to ensure conservative treatments are exhausted in advance of spine surgery. Dr. Abdunnur serves as Chief of Neurosurgery at Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center. Dr. Shane Abdunnur was the first surgeon in Northern Nevada to perform spine surgery with the assistance of the Globus ExcelsiusGPS robotic system at Saint Mary's. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Richmond. Followed by his Doctor of Medicine degree at the Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. Dr. Abdunnur completed a residency in Neurological Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. He is board-eligible in Neurological Surgery. Dr. Abdunnur joined the SpineNevada team after completing fellowship-training in Spine and Peripheral Nerve at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Fellowship-training is the highest level of medical education in the U.S. He serves as a member of the American Medical Association, American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
