The Redwood City Fire Department, also known as RCFD, focuses on fire prevention, operations, communication, paramedic and emergency services. Founded in 1861, it protects life and property from fire and hazardous material disasters. The department also offers emergency mitigation, public education and code enforcement services. The Redwood City Fire Department has more than four fire stations, engines and fire alarms, as well as a truck. It has a staff of over 70 individuals and provides services 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
