Founded in 1867, St. James Elementary School serves students in prekindergarten through grade eight. Its academic curriculum includes various subjects, such as language arts, math, science and social studies. The school supports a range of extracurricular programs in art, music, and computer and physical education. In addition, St. James Elementary School conducts foreign language programs in Spanish. It provides medical care, speech therapy and guidance counseling services. The school also supports a variety of sports activities, such as basketball, cross country, soccer, baseball, and track and field.
