Northwest Middle School, founded in 1935, operates under the Reading School District, and provides educational programs to more than 900 students in grades six, seven and eight. Its curriculum includes fine and performing arts, business, English, family and consumer science, math, science and social science. The school also offers classes in industrial and technical education and computer application. It offers special education programs to physically and mentally challenged students. It offers various extracurricular activities, such as music, arts, drama, games and sports. It organizes various events, including Halloween, homecoming, Christmas celebrations and prom dance.
