Two and a half years ago we purchased a sofa and love seat from American Freight for the exorbitant sum of nearly $700. We were told it should easily last for 10 years or more. Hughes Furniture was the manufacturer. In two years time the springs were falling out of the bottom of the couch and wooden slats were poking out the back. After calling American Freight I was informed that Hughes only offers a 1-year warranty on their furniture so basically I was out of luck. I can't imagine how they get away with selling furniture that is such poor quality! We're practically sitting on the floor and now have no money to replace something that we were told would last decades.
I purchased furniture for my new home that I ordered through a local furniture store. I never sat on the model because it had to be specially ordered. The sofa that I tried sat quite comfortable so I thought that this would apply to my newly ordered living room suite. I couldn't be more wrong. Upon delivery, I noticed that a deep gash was in the arm of the loveseat and when I sat on the sofa, I could feel the wooden frame quite easily against the backs of my leg. The furniture store repeatedly called Hughes Representative with the problem. His solution was to send fabric for me to cover the loveseat myself and cushions to replace the existing ones. I have been going back and forth with the company itself because they wouldn't honor the warranty through the store and now the store is out of business. I've contacted and file claims against them with the BBB and the NC Attorney General's Office. They said that the would "fixed the problem but haven't. It still hasn't been fixed.
