FoundationMED is a Functional Medicine practice with an intense personalized focus. We strive to better understand the underlying core imbalances that lead to symptoms and disease. In addition we work very hard to minimize underlying risk factors that lead to symptoms and disease. In our opinion, traditional medicine has lost its way. It is too focused on a "pill for every ill" and a symptom-based approach. By ignoring or minimizing the underlying reasons for symptoms and disease, the underlying problem continues (even as the symptoms are masked with drugs). It is impossible to provide proper personalized care in the typical medical office visit, so we provide ample time to better understand you and your personal situation. It is only by understanding your particular underlying physiology, your genetic makeup, and your environmental influences that a proper personalized care plan can be developed. A great deal of time is also spent after your visit to better understand and formulate a treatment plan for your particular issue. There is never a cookie-cutter approach. You will always see a Board Certified Medical Doctor with specialized training in Functional Medicine at all of your visits. We consider our patients to be partners in working towards solutions with them. We are not a "high volume" practice that barely listens to our patients, and pushes patients through a pre-designed "program". Our services include, but are not limited to PROPER Bioidentical Hormone treatment, focusing on proper physiologic dosing and hormone delivery as well as proper management of risk factors inherent in hormone treatment; MTHFR and Methylation evaluation (including a genetic analysis of methylation genes) and treatment; Gut and Bowel issues including IBS and IBD, food sensitivities, constipation; Adrenal issues including adrenal fatigue, HPA axis abnormalities; Cholesterol, Hypertension, Cardiovascular risk reduction; Pre-Diabetes and Diabetes; Tired and Fatigued; Memory issues; Menopausal issues, hot flashes, night sweats; and many others. We do not up-charge for laboratory tests as do many practices, and we do not lock you in with prepayment for services or membership fees. Business History

FoundationMED was founded by Michael Citron, MD - a board certified Emergency Physician. After a personal illness was not resolved with traditional medicine, Dr. Citron learned about how powerful a functional medicine approach to treating illness can be. After obtaining a great deal of secondary education about functional medicine (both from A4M and IFM and others), FoundationMED (a consultative medical practice) was created to provide a functional medicine approach for patients. Because of his training, Dr. Citron is able to merge both traditional medicine with functional medicine - to provide a unique form of medical care. Our business model is based on providing affordable care with advanced functional medicine techniques. We never require pre-paid treatment plans or concierge type fees. We do not upcharge for laboratory testing. We want to be able to help as many patients as possible

FoundationMED is on Six Forks Rd, Raleign, NC in the Six Forks Office Center. From Six Forks Rd. you would enter Six Forks Office Center via Office Center Drive. Take Office Center Drive until it ends, then turn right. FoundationMED is located in the third building (on the right) at 8406 Six Forks Rd. Suite 101. Please note that 8406 is on two sides of the building. We are located on the backside of the building.
