- Dental ExaminationAt your first visit, Dr. Knight will perform a full oral examination to assess the health of your teeth, gums, and bone. Your medical history will be reviewed so that we can provide optimal treatment for your needs. X-rays and scans will be taken to determine the locations of your oral and maxillofacial structures, and to diagnose any problems.
- X-raysSignificant decrease in radiation: The i-CAT® emits ten times less radiation than a medical CT scan and half the dose of a full mouth series of dental x-rays (FMX).
- Teeth CleaningIn addition to regular visits to the orthodontist, be sure your child is also having routine dental cleanings at your family dental practice. Excellent oral hygiene is even more important when there are orthodontic issues, as brushing and flossing can be challenging. Introducing your child to the dentist at an early age can develop good habits and provide them with knowledge that will last a lifetime. Dentistry has improved immensely over the past few decades. Your child needs to know going to the dentist does not have to be a scary experience. In fact, it can be a comfortable, calm, and even fun experience!

- Restorative DentistrySome patients have teeth that are not only misaligned but also are not in the proper shape and form. Although Dr. Knight can orthodontically straighten the teeth, sometimes proper function is unachievable due to inadequate tooth form. In these cases, proper form can be re-established with restorative dentistry following orthodontic treatment. This results in more beautiful, better-functioning teeth.
- Dental ImplantsWhen a patient reaches full maturity, the growth of the jaws is complete. As an adult, there are also other factors to consider, such as gum recession and bone degeneration. Comprehensive care is important to Dr. Knight. If you are missing teeth or considering dental implants, we may work together with additional specialists who can help you achieve your desired result.
- Oral SurgeryDr. Knight has provided service to three of my children. One child presented much more than a simple case requiring two rounds of braces, multiple retainers and even oral surgery, all of which Dr. Knight carefully and caringly oversaw. He worked closely with the oral surgeon to achieve the best possible results. In addition, he referred us to a dentist to finish the process with additional cosmetic procedures. The staff at the office are all wonderful to work with. They are very accommodating of scheduling issues and quick to follow up when there are questions or concerns.
- Jaw SurgeryIf your child has skeletal discrepancies, early care is optimal. Not only does it prevent your child from developing more serious issues in the future, but it is also more cost-effective and less invasive than waiting until they are older. - Teeth WhiteningUse fluoride toothpaste: Fluoride toothpaste helps keep your tooth enamel strong and protects against decay. Whitening toothpaste is not recommended during orthodontic treatment, as discoloration can occur once your brackets come off.
