- The Racine Police Department serves a population of more than 82,000 people. It prevents and deters crimes, enforces laws and maintains order and safety. Located in Racine, Wis., the department consists of over 195 sworn officers and nearly 30 civilian staff members. The Racine Police Department s gang unit handles investigations related to criminal street gangs. Its patrol division handles daily requests for police services. The department s traffic investigation unit investigates traffic collisions, traffic fatalities and serious personal injury crashes. The Racine Police Department also operates a special investigation department responsible for the prevention of prostitution and drug trafficking. It additionally investigates crimes against property and people.
