Located in Racine, Wis., the department consists of over 195 sworn officers and nearly 30 civilian staff members. The Racine Police Department s gang unit handles investigations related to criminal street gangs. Its patrol division handles daily requests for police services. The department s traffic investigation unit investigates traffic collisions, traffic fatalities and serious personal injury crashes. The Racine Police Department also operates a special investigation department responsible for the prevention of prostitution and drug trafficking. It additionally investigates crimes against property and people.
