Founded in 1967, Virgil I Grissom Elementary offers educational opportunities to students in pre-kindergarten through grade six. The school s curriculum includes reading, math, science, physical education, art, music, social studies and language arts. It is a governed by the North Scott Community School District, which operates elementary, middle and high schools. Virgil I Grissom Elementary coordinates the Title I reading program. Its parent-teacher association sponsors carnivals, fundraisers, field trips, games and sixth grade graduation ceremonies. The school offers a variety of sports activities, such as basketball and football. Virgil I Grissom Elementary also provides speech and language pathology services to eligible students.
