The Carl D. Perkins Job Corps Center is an educational and career technical training program institution that serves individuals between the ages of 16 and 24. It works to improve the quality of their living through career, technical and academic training. Administered by the Department of Labor, the institution is authorized by Title I-C of the Workforce Investment Act. It focuses on the development of skills that enable individuals to be independent. In addition to instruction in language arts and math, the Carl D. Perkins Job Corps Center conducts classes for the development of information management, personal planning, interpersonal, communication, and personal growth and development skills. It maintains a wellness facility that provides 24-hour emergency medical, weight management, smoking cessation, pregnancy prevention and related health care services.
