General Info
Who We Are The Adult Center of Prescott, Inc. is a private non-profit corporation that provides a broad range of recreational, educational, and social activities for Prescott adults. The Adult Center is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors and a professional staff retained by the Board, and we qualify as a charitable organization under Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Service. Where We're Located The Adult Center is located within the City of Prescott's Rowle P. Simmons Community Center at 1280 East Rosser Street. As the new home of the Adult Center of Prescott and Prescott Meals on Wheels since January 2007, the Rowle P. Simmons Community Center is the new "Place to Play" for Prescott-area adults aged 18 & over. The Community Center offers nearly 21,000 square-feet of space for adult-oriented recreation, education, & entertainment, including a ballroom/auditorium with a 4,000 ft. 'floating' dance floor. In addition, the area surrounding the facility is slated to be developed by the City of Prescott into a 19-acre park with tennis and horseshoe courts, hiking trails, & other opportunities for outdoor recreation. The Relationship Between the Adult Center and the Community Center The Community Center is merely the name given to the building that was constructed and is owned by the City of Prescott. All the activities within the building are conducted by the Adult Center which leases space from the City at a nominal rate. Likewise, Prescott Meals on Wheels is an independent organization operating within the building under a similar lease from the City. Although the Community Center was built by the City of Prescott, the City provides only minimal ongoing financial support. The day-to-day operation of the Center is the responsibility of the Adult Center and Meals on Wheels, both of which are tax-exempt 501c(3) charitable organizations. To enable continued service to needy Prescott residents, Meals on Wheels relies heavily on government grants an
