Founded in 1876, the University of Oregon offers a range of learning opportunities for more than 20,000 students in various liberal arts and professional programs. Its academic curriculum includes courses in accounting, anthropology, architecture, art, history, journalism, law, biochemistry, business administration, information technology and ceramics. The University of Oregon also provides programs in philosophy, political science, economics, English, photography, psychology and product design, as well as painting, music and dance. The university operates several libraries that offer a variety of books, articles, databases and journals. The University of Oregon participates in a variety of sports activities, including basketball, golf, tennis, football, softball, wrestling, and track and field.
