The Musicians Union, Local 99 is the economic justice organization serving and representing professional musicians in Portland, Oregon and surrounding areas. We are affiliated with the American Federation of Musicians of the US and Canada ( AFM ). Use the links above to learn more about the benefits of membership and find out how you can get involved. Flute Fandango is a unique event designed to break the Guinness Book of Records for the Largest Flute Ensemble ( currently at 1, 989 players ). It is a fundraiser for the non-profit Music Education Assistance Project which provides grants for private lessons to talented, needy, public school students in Oregon and Washington. It is an all ages, all ability levels event. It's fun and for a good cause! Players are coming from as far away as Mexico and Florida. Pre-registration is required and being accepted NOW. The registration form is available at: www.flutealliance.com The event, scheduled for Friday, August 6, from 4: 30-7: 30PM at Oaks Park Amusement Park in Portland is to benefit the non-profit arm of the American Federation of Musicians, Local 99-The Music Education Assistance Project. Presented by The Flute Alliance, with assistance from The Greater Portland Flute Society and Oaks Park.
