Craftsmanship and building design have been family dinner table conversation for as long as Bill Handler can remember. Dan Handler, Bill’s father, shared his daily experiences as a builder/developer of shopping centers throughout the eastern United States – and with his extensive knowledge of the construction business, Dan decided to expand his efforts into residential construction, founding GHO Homes in 1983. In the ensuing years the company grew steadily, building projects in Sunrise, Tamarac, Delray Beach, Parkland, Jupiter, St. Lucie West, Vero Beach, Sebastian, Palm Bay, and Daytona Beach. After 17 years of growth and experience, the torch was passed when Dan Handler placed his son Bill in charge of the next generation of GHO Homes. Bill’s credentials brought tremendous momentum to the GHO family management team. After graduating with honors from the University of Florida with a degree in Building Construction, Bill went on to earn his Law Degree from the University of Florida and is a current member of the Florida Bar Association. And as a licensed contractor, Bill was able to combine practical “hands-on” experience with the knowledge and business acumen necessary to guide the company. While earning national recognition and awards for new home design and sales, website development and company growth, GHO Homes was acknowledged as one of the fastest growing homebuilders in the nation in 2004 and 2005. This ultimately brought GHO Homes to the attention of Woodside Homes, a national builder looking to enter the southeast Florida market and in 2005 they acquired the company, asking Bill to manage the local Woodside operation. He did so until Woodside decided to exit the Florida market and concentrate on the western U.S. market. We’re proud to say GHO Homes’ distinctive floor plan collection has won numerous awards over the years, including Platinum, Gold and Grand Awards locally, for our wide range of new home designs; we are accomplished in building townhomes, single-family homes and custom estate homes. With the vision of its second generation of leadership, GHO Homes – now celebrating more than 25 years – is continuing our commitment to excellence and providing our customers with the communities and new homes they desire, truly the result of our family-focused team of home building professionals.
