Port Jefferson Middle School is a part of the Port Jefferson School District. Located in Port Jefferson, N.Y., the school serves students in grades six through eight. It imparts reading skills to students through phonics instruction. Additionally, Port Jefferson Middle School conducts classes in art, music, physical education, library skills, science and computer applications. The school also has a library and media center that provides a variety of resources, such as books, journals, magazines and Internet access. It operates fine arts, computer applications, and health and physical education departments. Port Jefferson Middle School has a staff that includes a psychologist, speech pathologist, and physical and occupational therapists.
