General Info
At WAM, our goal is to earn positive "absolute" returns for our clients every year. What does that mean? It means that we don't just want to beat the S&P 500 - we want to make money year in and year out. While some managers would be satisfied to lose only 15% in a year that the market dropped 20%, we wouldn't. And neither would you. WAM was formed in 1997 with the goal of providing expert investment advice to small- and mid-sized investors; people who otherwise lacked access to quality investment professionals. As opposed to large advisory firms or brokerage companies with very high minimum balance requirements and equally daunting bureaucracies, Greg personally plans, implements and supervises the investments for every client. There are no junior associates learning the ropes with your money and no customer service departments to wade through to get your questions answered. Our natural conservatism and innovative approach to investing through dynamic sector rotation(the topic of a chapter that Greg wrote for The Black Book on Personal Finance) sets us apart from the thousands of other investment advisors and brokers. There is no cookie-cutter approach to investing here. When designing a portfolio, our foremost objectives are the preservation of capital and the creation of a reliable stream of current income. The best way to build wealth is to minimize losses and maximize dividends and interest. Historically, more than 50% of investment returns have come from income, not capital gains. Yes, dividends do matter!
