This particular customer had a mis-matched (two different manufacturers-not recommended) older system and it did not make good economical sense to repair the 14 year outdoor unit that was in poor condition. The indoor unit was 22 years old and is poor condition as well. This customer used our company 4 times over the course of 6 years to simply add refrigerant to a leaking system and consistently declined a professional leak search by our qualified technicians.As of January 2006, the Federal Law changed the efficiency level to 13 SEER and we could not simply replace the outdoor unit because it would not match up with the existing, older indoor unit. We would have had to replace the entire system in order to meet compliancy requirements. It would have been unethical on our part to replace just the outdoor unit. This particular customer did not wish to make this investment at that time.
