The service in the daytime is not the best. They are very unfriendly. But they have most terrific volcano roll. It is kind of pricey, but it is wonderful!

Their sushi is great. The spicy tuna rolls could be better. Yellowtail sushi is the best I've had anywhere. Very, very, good.

I was excited to see a new sushi restaurant in Plano and went to Umeko on its 3rd night open. You can tell that the staff was completely unprepared for more than 20 customers at a time. The hostess was flaky and service was terrible from the get go. When we walked in, we were not greeted for about 3 minutes. Then she sat us. It was another 10 minutes before we even saw a waiter or received water. I finally just walked my sushi order up to the sushi bar. The sushi chefs were much more attentive and personally brought our order to our table. The tuna was not fresh and had a slimy consistency which happens when it has been out of refrigeration for too long. The tempura batter was soft and soggy. The chicken teriyaki that my dad ordered could have been good, but it was cold. And his vegetable tempura was also heavy and soft. I hope that they can hire more servers and figure out how to run a restaurant soon. If you go during a busy time, sit at the sushi bar.
