I offered a wellness checkup for our parents which led to the discovery of a genetic disease (hemochromatosis) in my mom probably saving her life in the long run. She hadn't even shown any physical symptoms yet. With this specific disease, if symptoms are present then damage to organs is already occurring. Since this disease is genetically inherited, my brothers and I have also been tested.
