The Pilates Center of Pittsburgh was founded in 2006 by Lesley Davenport. We are committed to serving the greater Pittsburgh area with a cutting edge Pilates program that marries the wisdom and power of classical Pilates with the art of teaching.At the Pilates Center of Pittsburgh our method is simple. We believe that Pilates is a conduit for personal empowerment. We serve others by giving accurate information to our clients about their bodies and teach how to use them with clarity and confidence. It is our experience that through doing Pilates regularly you can dramatically improve the way your body feels and works.We pride ourselves on making Pilates very personal. Your goals and body are unique. We maintain an atmosphere and staff that helps you achieve those goals. We are mindful of process while being results oriented. We offer a program that honors the integrity of the method of Joseph H. Pilates. We promote and teach a classical, systematic, integrative approach to Pilates training.ClassicalA Classical Pilates workout honors the order of the exercises and the original intention or goal of each of the movements.SystematicYour body will accept change when ready. It is your instructor’s job to give appropriate corrections to you. It is your job to apply your best efforts and learn how to “do”. This combination will bring success.Change comes through movement. As your body moves, change occurs. Power Pilates says “movement heals” because of this reason.IntegrativeOur Pilates program integrates the various pieces of apparatus in the Method. Clients learn Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, High back and Wunda chair, Barrels, and Magic circle to create a workout that builds stability, strength, flexibility, and stamina in the body.

Body WorkThese services are under the direction of Synergy Bodyworks.Postural EvaluationWe examine your structural pattern (seated and standing postures, the way you breathe and various movement patterns) to determine if they are contributing to chronic pain patterns and movement restrictions. (30 minutes, by appointment) $40Orthopedic MassageTo help with the healing of soft tissue injuries and improve range of motion. Assisted Stretching — We will work with you to create a stretching routine that is personalized to make improvements in your quality of movement. $40 half hour; $75 hour.
