Improving the lives of individuals and families through Native American culturally appropriate behavioral health, affordable housing, and community development services.Since 1972, we have been changing lives, strengthening families, and building healthy communities. In that time, we have grown from a small grassroots organization operating one program Native American men in recovery from substance abuse into one which now owns and operates 15 sites throughout Central Phoenix offering a continuum of affordable housing and behavioral health services which touch the lives of over 5, 000 individuals and families each year. Our vision is that Native American Connections be recognized as a premier Native American service and development organization by:We are grounded in values which honor and respect Native American culture and kinship. One of Native American Connections' greatest strengths is that it has managed to maintain the heart, soul and spirit of a grassroots community-based organization, even as it has experienced such tremendous growth. The reasons we were founded almost 40 years ago still resonate with us, providing us with meaning and passion for our work today, and for all that we envision and will accomplish in the future.A Vision Fulfilled Native American Community Service Center Home of Native American Connections, Phoenix Indian Center, Native Health In 2005, Native American Connections, Phoenix Indian Center, and Native American Community Health Center ( Native Health ) formed a legal partnership to purchase the 85, 000 square foot, six-story office building. The facility provides a central location for services, culture and businesses addressing the needs of urban Natives, now and well into the future. Our $4.2 million combined Capital Campaign provides critical improvements and renovations that will lay the groundwork for our future sustainability. The VISION is to create a geographic center for urban Natives in Greater Phoenix that will one day be a vibrant tourist destination which includes community services, small businesses, artisans/vendors selling their arts and crafts, housing opportunities, and cultural amenities -- and a place to foster Native American growth and leadership opportunities for current and future generations. This jointly owned, unique and nationally recognized multi-tenant nonprofit Center is conveniently located one block south of Camelback, directly on the new Metro light rail. Most of our customers rely on public transportation, and the co-location of our services has eliminated the need for customers to travel back and forth between multiple agencies to access services.Collectively, the three agencies have provided over 125 years of complementary services to the urban Native American community in Maricopa County: Native American Connections 2009 Native American Connections, Inc 4520 N.
